[M]ission
We promise to treat all of our Patients with the dignity and respect they deserve regardless of age, race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, culture or ethnic background.
We promise that we will endeavor to offer hope to the hopeless, give help to those in need, provide reassurance to the worried, whether ill or well, and, above all, we will endeavor to provide relief from illness, pain, and suffering, regardless of the circumstances or resources involved, to the best of our knowledge and ability. However, first and foremost we will make every attempt to help our patients prevent such illness, pain, and suffering from occuring inasmuch as we are able.
We promise to reveal our own humanity and humility, because we are fallable, human, and are neither above nor beneath, but equal to those we serve.
We will not make promises regarding imponderables, your future health or the outcome of any procedure, because we cannot predict the future. However, we will give you our opinions based on the current medical evidence-based guidelines and our experience, which grows with each passing day.
We will faithfully give our Patients the care and attention they deserve, and will actively honor the awesome privilege of being advocates for health and agents of change within a relationship based on mutual responsibility, acceptance of current evidence-based standards of care, and, most importantly, trust.
We will endeavor, as much as possible, to be good stewards of our Patients' time. However, we will never cut corners by compromising the standards of accepted medical care or by infringing on ethical boundaries simply to stay on schedule. We will give our first attention to the illest patients. We expect our patients to subscribe to these principles, understanding that illness is no respector of time, place, station, or circumstance.
We believe that self-destructive behaviors such as smoking, over-eating, substance abuse, and emotional issues lead to more serious and chronic problems for our Patients and their families. They account for the greatest costs to our healthcare system, and some of the greatest costs to society. It is our desire to be a welcome source of assistance to all who suffer with these issues in a supportive and non-judgemental environment.
We fully support healthcare reform. The time has come for both Patients and healthcare providers to be rewarded for success through prevention. We look forward with great hope that many of the current healthcare reform principles critically considered by our national leaders come to fruition.
We will endeavor to uphold the principles of the AMA's code of ethics and the rules and regulations set forth by this State and any national regulatory bodies in order to legally and properly discharge our duties in an ethical and professional manner. We will give special attention to matters relating to preservation of protected health information (PHI) and Patient privacy.
We value diversity. Diversity is a blend of people of all colors, creeds, cultures and religions with a multiplicity of unique life experiences and perspectives. The more diverse our Patients and healthcare team members become, the more we experience fresh ideas, embrace novel paradigms, and the more effective and enriched we become as individuals and as an organization.
We have no place for pride or insecurity. We will not be too proud to seek out and employ individuals that are perceived to be more intelligent or talented than we think we are. They are the future of this organization. We believe that learning from smart, talented people is valuable and makes us collectively better, and we will not hesitate to separate from those who stand in the way of the progress, ideals, and provisions set forth in this Mission Statement.
We will actively and regularly participate in continuing medical education in order to keep our skills current and our Patients' care up-to-date.
To the extent we are able, we will assist our research-based colleagues in any way that will help further their causes in order to help alleviate disease and suffering, as Medicine is the unique science that endeavors to actively abolish the reasons for its own existence.
We will comply with the rules and regulations of all third-party providers and insurers, and will make every attempt to keep our fees within usual and customary standards.
We will continue to maintain our facilities in clean and up-to-date condition, even if it leads to financial loss for the corporation.
We will endeavor to assist the uninsured or under-insured secure ways to access resources that might benefit them including, but not limited to, Medicaid and Medicare, or direct Patients to other means of assistance in order to help relieve the financial hardship healthcare expenses can often create.
We believe that our God, our health, and our families are our most valuable possessions. Therefore, it is our fervent desire for our Patients to reach their full potential for health and well-being. We will continue to be dedicated to the principles and practices outlined in this Mission Statement.
